Personally I think a roof is the most significant part of a building, but flooring is also important.
- Especially in industries such as
Manufacturing and Food Processing
Chemical Processing
Automotive Showrooms
Health Care Facilities
We could go back and forth on this debate, but we can all agree that both are important aspects to a facility. A roof protects valuable assets from being damaged or destroyed, and a floor is usually the first thing somebody notices when entering a building for the first time. Since this is the case it’s important for many building owners to not only have a high performance flooring system, but also a aesthetically pleasing one as well.
Industrial floors should be able to withstand harsh conditions such as:
Oil and grease – Restaurant floors are often coated in grease and oil, making them prone to slip and fall accidents.
Chemicals – The continual soaking of animal fats, grease, oil, many acids, alkali, sugar, blood, urine, and salt should have no effect on its durability.
Bacteria
Moisture
Traffic – Floors for high traffic areas. Floor should not form a wear pattern.
Heat – The floor should be able to absorb high temperatures.
Forklifts and hand trucks in industrial settings can wear out a floor in no time. In retail the constant heavy foot traffic from humans can deteriorate a floors surface over time.
